Just want to ask what software can 'cut' part of a song so that my mp3 ringtones are just not the beginning of a song. I want the middle part of the song.

try this: http://www.cooolsoft.com/mp3cut.htm

it's not free, in the shareware version you can cut out a segment of not more than 60 secs, but it's far enough to make a nice ringtone...

mp3DirectCut ( http://mpesch3.de1.cc/#mp3dc ) does the job for free.

Install dBpowerAMP (and the MP3Pro codec, although this is not neccessary!),
Convert your MP3 files to WAV,
Cut the WAV files (I cut them them to 60sec, in MP3 format the will be 1MB and in MP3Pro around 600kb) with Sound Recorder (From Windows),
Convert them back to MP3 (or MP3Pro) with dBpowerAMP,
Upload them to your phone,
Show off to your friends with your phat ringtones (That's what I do and they all like my ringtones ).

For MP3: Bitrate of 96kbps
For MP3Pro: Bitrate of 64-96kbps (variable bitrate)

Regards,

Molski

I use Sound Forge6 by SonicFoundry. It is not free (at least it's not supposed to be ) but it is superb. It does more stuff than you will ever need.
Like Adobe Photoshop but for sound!

I used power mp3 cutter, which I htink is the same as the first suggestion, and it does the job nicely.

Use GoldWave software to edit your mp3 then save the edited file as wav then use MusicMatch Jukebox to convert the wav file to mp3.

The Power mp3 Cutter is really good!!! Many Thanks!!! It is good because it can add fade in and fade out, so ringtones sound alot nicer!
