I had a p910i from singlepoint on voda, and it was network locked, so they provided me a code to unlock the phone. With regards to the voda live, only a voda theme and start up animation are there...of course, if u choose the voda theme, everything (wallpaper, background etc) looks crap, but you can change it to other theme, and it looks the same as others (apart from the start up). Do u know that a branded phone (like yours) can't upgrade the firm-ware from SE site? It can only upgrade when voda releases its firmware to p910i.

Thanks didn't know about the firmware bit, thanks for letting me know..
so there is no acutal sticker on the phone then ? that's great..
and nice to know about the themes aswell
and i assume its easy to get it unlock code... will have to do that as soon as i get the phone, but how would that work, is it on the options in the phone to unlock it ?

Yep there are no logos...
They normally ask for 20 pounds for that code, and as far as i could remember, this is the sequence:
With flip close, roll the jog dial up, then press *, roll jog dial down, press * twice, and roll jog dial down again.
Then you will see a screen called SIM ME Personalize, then select the top option 'Network', and then you enter the code they gave you. Thats
it@!

I got the Unlock code for free when buying the phone, I simply pointed out that a locked triband phone was about as much use as a chocolate teapot and that I would only buy the phone unlocked.

thanks, should i just ask for an unlock code when i buy the phone then, and they should give it to me straight away ?
they will know exactly what i'm on about ?
as it only be useful when selling the phone in the future that's all i think...

yeah I went through 2 vodafone P910s, one from a vodafone shop and one from vodafone connect and both were the same. Both the shop and connect were believing that their P910s were not live! phones but indeed they were.
There are no markings on the housing but here is a list of changes in the firmware
1. bright red startup and shutdown screens which are not changeable
2. a vodafone theme
3. 4 preset and underleteable internet accounts, 2 for pay monthly users and 2 for prepaid users. you can add your own internet account
4. a preset and undeletable and unchangeable wap account
5. a preset and undeletable and unchangeable mms server setting
6. some internal content folders (image, video etc) have vodafone folders as well as Sony Ericsson folder
7. The phones were locked but yes, vodafone did give me the unlock codes without question
I didn't try MP3s so can't comment on that

Thanks for the detailed reply
Well as long as i can use my own GPRS / WAP settings i don't mind.. and i guess i won't be turning the phone on or off too many times to be too bothered about it...
great about no vodafone mess on the actual phone itself
and carphonewarehouse want something stupid like £350 for the phone, Vodafone direct want £190... so not a difficult choice really...
and i can just ask for the unlock code then, i assume they will understand.
thanks again will make the purchase VERY soon now...
Selling my P800 tonight hopefully...
