Hi,

I'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to 'modern' mobile phones. Although I've just picked up a p900 (and waiting for my upgrade to a p910i next week), for the last 5ish years I've used a Nokia 6310.. so moving to a Smartphone is a big leap for me.

I have a couple of questions with regard to email messaging and gprs in general. Since most of you seem to know exactly what you are doing in this respect I'd appreciate your help.

1. My Asterisk PBX now emails my phone if I missed a call

I've got my pbx at home to email an account if I miss a call from someone, my phone has the account configured and I can collect the messages no problem. The issues I have with this are:

a) I want to download the message to the phone and delete it off the server, there appears to be no way to configure this behaviour.

b) If I download the messages to the phone, then delete the messages from the server, the next time I call to collect my email it removes the messages I deleted from the server off the phone. That's not what I want.. I've downloaded the messages, why is it deleting them off the phone..

c) The mail client retrieves the headers for messages it already has downloaded, why? Since I'm using gprs to collect messages this just uses up some of my 5mb data transfer allocation every time, for no good reason.

2. Is it true that while I'm using gprs noone can call me? Some people tell me it's true others say it's not (they say they keep their phone permanently connected via gprs)

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and reply,

Ok,

managed to work out myself that your calls get diverted to voicemail if you are using gprs, which pretty much sucks ( ) imho...

Other questions are still outstanding tho
