Well i never have... Even tho it did kinda scare me when i first had my P900 as i was worried about damaging the data stored on the mem stick, but i've never experienced any problems...

just to be awkward.... the manual for my nec 313 says that the phone MUST be turned off before taking out the msd, but i never bother and i havent had any problems...yet.

You don't have to, and the phone seems to notice and cope with the removal OK, for example the icons of programs that are installed on the MS disappear and reappear when the MS is removed and re-entered.
