Ive downloaded a few games in .zip format, they contain files like META_INF, p1, ds_effects.dss etc how do i insdtall these files onto my phone ?

are you sure they are in .zip and not .jar if they are in .zip rename them to .jar (In order to rename you might have to go folder options then view than unmark hide extensions for known file type) then send the file to your phone.

yer i was pretty certain that it had something to do with java, but it comes with the META_INI and loads of .png which are images so perhaps there unpacked java games

just unzip the files and install only the .jar or .sis file, the other files might be "Read Me" type stuffs.
