Toshiba is showing how they integrate a hard drive to a mobilephone. I would really want a 10GB storage in my mobile but first I will think if it is 99% shock resistance.

why shock resistance??? A phone is not meant to be that, if its not specified for that, like Siemens M65. IF its not, you have to be carefull.

haha shockresistant! Is your phone shockresistant? Drop it on concrete from 8 feet high, see what happens. The harddrive, like any modern harddrive are shockresistant as in, they do not damage on the outside if dropped fom high. However some damage can occure inside if the HDD is operating. Modern harddrives in notebooks, PDA's and cellphones, detect if they are in freefall (í.e. accelerated speed of 1G (gravity)) and automatically park themselfs and powerdown within 1/10 of a second.

Conclusion: if you phone takes a hard smash on the floor, it will be broken, but you can reuse harddrive!
