hi, i've completed 3 cycles of charging and discharging, and wonder if the battery has reached its full potential so that i can charge it anytime and not till the battery is completely flat... i heard that you must not do that until the battery has reach its full potential..is that true?

Actuall no need to discharge, it was useful at older nimh and nicd batt cos of mem effect. Charge it only so long til full in on mode, in off mode a night long u want to. This message was posted from a T630

Yes. Once you have done a full charge you can charge whenever you want but its a good idea to let the battery go low once in a while and recharge fully to keep the batteries conditioned & the battery gauge accurate. I read that LiIon LiPolymer batteries should not be fully flattened though. I never let my P800/P900 & now P910i got below 5% before I recharge.

yes, the myth of the no-memory-effect of modern plastic batteries.

fact is, i got my p900 and always followed the "use-until-1%-then-charge-to-100%" rule. had pretty good batterylife, until i decided to charge inbetween.
after a day or two, my batterylife dropped to barely a day.

i'm not sure if it's the battery itself, or if the battery controller gets confused.

anyway, after i charged it fully, then let it run down completely, and was back with 3-4 days batterylife including regular use.

so my suggestion is to always let the phone run down to below 5% before you charge it to 100 !

Agreed. My batteries (LiPolymer or otherwise) have always been better off with the "Below 5% rule"

Everyone has their own way to deal with batteries, and I have found few people who agree on this.

What's the deal?

I believed it's whatever your battery is use to. After initial charge on my p900, I alwyas recharge at 10-15%. One day I let it run out to 1%, after that my batt. die in 5 hours. After 3 days of charging it again everytime it drop to 15% everything got back to normal.

@bobafett - I agree with you here mate! As I always do it 'religiously' on my fone's batts ! Yup, Lithium Ion batterries can be charged even without having to drain it first . . .
