Hi me the novice again. Can anyone tell me how best and easiest to do the following:
Transfer contacts from my p800(not sim) to p910.
Also can i use the usb deskstand to ADD the p910 to my laptop or will the both of them being there conflict? btw is there any difference in the two stands?
The same question for the cds that came with the p910. Can I load them without conflicts between the two?
Thanks

Ok, took me 2 days to get everything figured out and all... I was able to transfer most of my data, including my incoming SMS (I couldn't get my SENT SMS, and my MMSes transferred though)
To transfer your contacts from your P800 to your P910 is the easiest thing to do! (Don't sync it through Outlook unless you wanna lose your sorted folders)
Ok, open your Contacts app on your P800, then click on the arrow for the folders... for example, select your 'Friends' folder, then click Contacts -> Send this Folder
Then send each folder one by one... save each folder one at a time into new folders that you've made on the P910. (Make new folders first before opening the beamed contacts otherwise they get all mixed up)
Regarding the sync software... uninstall the older one, and install the one found on the P910 CD... this one supports the P800, P900, and the P910.
You can have more than one P-series phone for the software and dock (the dock for all P-series phones is the same... it's just the design) You can switch between phones for back-up and restore... however, you CANNOT restore your P800 info onto the P910.

Oh... hmmm... ideally send it through BT or IR... thing is, you'll need a SIM in both phones (even if the other one won't log on... you just need one for the phone to work...don't worry, it won't delete your info when you insert a new SIM)
Sending it via IR or BT to your PC may remove some phone info (photos attached to contacts, etc...)
Sending the folders directly to the P910 makes sure you keep your phonebook as identical to your P800 as possible. It will remove voice tags however.

@irfan
You can use the as yet inactive SIM that came with your new P910i. That will allow you into the necessary functions to transfer the contacts.
@jplacson
any useful tips for ease of transfer from 900 to 910i of more complicated stuff? How did you get the SMS across, for example? And, is it correct that when BT pairings exist but BT is switched off, there should be a BT symbol with a red line through it in the phone's "system tray"?

Dave, yup... no more "Auto" Mode. When the flip is open, and BT off... you still see the icon with a red line. This makes it easier to activate BT without going to the control panel and all.
transferring SMS??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That's a labor of love for me man!!!
I have 2 SIMS (one is inactive) first, I backed-up my P800 just in case anything went wrong. Then... here's the best part... I saved each SMS ... ONE BY ONE... until the SIM was full... then shut off the P800... trasnfer to P910.. then ONE BY ONE... transfer them to the P910... repeat process until all your fav SMSes have been transferred!
AHAHHAHAHA... if anyone has found a better way... PLEASE GOD!!! LET ME KNOW!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!
It took me about 6 hours to transfer my 500+ SMS from my P800 to my P910.
I haven't found a way to save MMS though... email can be synced through Outlook.
Contacts can be synced as well... but they don't retain their folders... so I prefer beaming each folder... takes longer than syncing... but at least I don't have to re-sort them.

hi guys.... just want to share some tips..
I was able to transfer whole contact using the nasty "backup/restore mode" technique. I just copied the whole contact.db from P800 to P900 and it works.
I found this "backup/restore" mode to be the only way to get that contact.db in/out from my P800 sometime last year. Process is something like this:
- put Pxx0 into cradle
- do backup
- when the phone resets to go into backup/restore mode, click cancel in the PC
- use PC filemanager to get into your Pxx0 and get in/out the contact.db

HOW TO TRANSFER EVERYTHING UNDER MESSAGE FROM PX00
Note: all message and its folders in destination phone will be erased
Source unit:
- copy everything under c:\system\mail to your HD using PC FileManager
Destination unit:
- put your phone in flight mode, we don't want incoming new message while transferring
- copy everything except INDEX into c:\system\mail from step above
- then under "BACKUP/RESTORE" mode, copy INDEX
** it works on my end, no guarantee
** for "BACKUP/RESTORE" mode, refer to my previous post
