Is it possible to send a fax from the phone as an SMS for example? If not, then why is there a storage position for fax numbers? (or is that just for personal reference?)

Yes, it is possible to fax from your t68. This has been possible on most phones for a long time. I have even faxed from the t28! Just type an sms, and sms it as 'fax' to the faxnumber you want. However, it might be operator specific.
