> Next best phone after P910?
Bookmark topic
I owned a t68, t68i, P800 and, until very recently, a P900 (until it got stolen), so I can consider myself a SE fan.
Now that I have a lousy Nokia 1100 (my employer bought it for me as a temporary measure

) I am thinking how to best dispose of my budget for the next phone.
I was thinking the P910, then looking at the review and features lists I thought it might probably not be worth upgrading (262,000 color screen, which actually has a doubtful advantage over the 65K of the P900, more memory...not actually interested because I have different devices to listen to the music, watch movies and take pictures, etc. etc.). Besides, I am not an SMS-freak so the P910's built-in keyboard is actually of no use to me...
Then I thought, the xda II by O2... Almost everything I could wish for, and I could dump my old loyal iPAQ 3850... But the size of the thing... When someone holds this thing out answering a call it makes him look like a freak, I think.. and the battery life... is simply ridiculous..
And the reviews are so-so... bugs and glitches here and there..bluetooth is not OBEX-enabled (another ridiculous thing!)...etc.
Now, the question is: if I have a US$ 1,000 or so budget for a mobile phone/PDA-mobile phone device, from what's available, and if you of any upcoming supercharged models that will compete with the SE P900/910 in terms of features, design, etc., what would you recommend?
I've done an extensive search on the Net but haven't found anything more interesting than the two phones mentioned above.

Now is a really difficult time to shop for a phone with a "sky's-the-limit" budget. There are so many awesome phones that are going to be released in the next 5 months - the Motorola MPx (I think this quarter), the Nokia 9300 (Q1 '05), etc etc. I think I would probably wait at least another month or two and see what's on the market then. Otherwise, I'd have to go with the P910 because is the most powerful "PDA-phone" out there, but if you do want a "phone-PDA" then you might want to consider the xda II but from the concerns you have that you mentioned I don't think it would suit your preferences. Buying a phone is always a tough call, especially when you're buying a high-end phone so you really need to do your homework. Since you've had a P900, you know that you'll absolutely love a P910 but if you want to take a chance on another device then read the reviews and compare the pros and cons.

P905 (P900 with P910's firmware) is my choice, thtz coz P900 is wht I have now. A new phone? P910 seem to be the obvious choice, but HP6315 simply wont get out of my mind, jus for the WiFi support!

I am waiting for the Moto A1000, which will have GPS and 3G and in the future UIQ3. The first version should be released before Christmas.

And going by the size of motorola's previous UIQ phones it'll be as big as a small car!

thanks everybody for the head-ups.
and thanks a lot for pointing the Moto A1000 -- I didn't know there was one! It looks great, and feature-wise is no less promising.
actually I was about to go for the O2 xdaII

I was almost ready to buy one thanks heaven I posted this before
I think I will wait for the Moto.
I used to own a few Motorolas, and I thoroughly enjoyed them, before SE entered the market. Now, with the A1000, it is about time to get back to the roots
I have a question though: does anyone know when this A1000 is due, and what the heck is this Triflash-R removable memory? Will it be compatible with the MMC/SD?
