I read a couple of articles claiming that wap will be soon dead considering that the newer versions of mobile phone like P900 and 6600 support "full internet browsing" and not just "wap browsing"? If so, will new sites not support wap and existing sites remove wap support?

in my view it was never "alive" as even since before wap I have always used full internet from palm, ipaq, pc on csd dialup and then on GPRS and/or wifi as soon as it was available. only very rarely used wap and then only as a curiosity.

Wap is very alive thanks to Vodafone Live!, Orange World, MMS... a lot of the new features are in fact wap-based.

It will remain the main protocol for online phone content for still a long time because
- 'installed base' (most phones have wap)
- sufficient for the type of information that most users want
- no hefty processor in the phone needed, little memory needed
- tiny screens remain the norm, despite the new colour screens on most phones and one can doubt if ever most users will have really big screens because it means big phones to carry around

So WAP has just begun its second life.

I guess I do have something against it. I've always found it way to primitive for my tastes and I prefer a large, rich and full experience on the internet and wap just doesn't give that
