Hi all,

I'm figuring out whether or not I should purcahse the P910i right now or just wait for the P910a to come out. I live in the US, California and sometimes travel internationally to places such as, Brazil, Taiwan, China, and Germany. I also travel within the States. What phone is more suitable for my type? P910i? P910a?

I'm currently on T-Mobile. What's the benefits of the 850Mhz if I switch over to Cingular/ATT?

Are there any functions of the p910a that the p910i dosen't have?

Thanks for everyone's help!

as far as I know, P910i is a phone for the european market,
that means it is Tripple band, while p910a is for amerika, not sure but I think it's a tripple too, just with the 850mhx, and not 800mhz

I'm not sure, but I think 850MHz is the new GSM frequency that has replaced CDMA networks in some parts of America, so the benefits there are that the 910a would work in areas where there was previously no GSM coverage but now is.

But, please correct me if I'm wrong (it does happen occasionally)

The P910a has 850/1800/1900 band
The P910i has 900/1800/1900 band.
I would go for the 910i if you travel internationally and like to hop on T-mobile. 900 band in India/Carrebbean for example.
I would choose the P910a if you want to hop on Cingular/ATT and travel domestically a lot.
There is no 850mhz band outside US really. I don't consider 850 a GSM frequency, because of that.
T-mobile only uses 1900 in US. Cingular overlays the 1900 and the 850 in the US.

by the way:

dont switch over to cingulair or at&t!

If you have a p910 i presume you'll be surfing the net, checking your mail, etc. a lot from your phone. T-mobile's 5 buck a month plan will let you do all that (shhhh!), but cingular and at&t carges you up the ass for GPRS usage!

and the coverage is the same, well at least in cali

I'm waiting for the P910a since I am with Cingular and I rarely leave the U.S. On the rare occasion that I am in another country with GSM, the 1800 band still works. I used my T616 all over Europe this summer without problems. I just figure that the one that works best at home is most important.

And I don't plan on switching since I am happy with Cingular's rates and coverage compared to my friends that are with other carriers.

By the way, even with T-Mobile, the 910a might be a good idea because then you can roam onto AT&T or Cingular 850 bands since all three carriers have a roaming agreement.

Well, I think then the P910a is the best choice for you.
