hi,
its a common dilemma for most prospective buyers of the p900/910. it really comes down to...
1.usage. would u use the phone functions (making calls/sms/mms) or the pda functions (spreadsheets/documents/mail) etc.?
2. operating system.. symbain on p910 or palm/windows on the pda.
3. connectivity... the p910 has only bt/ir etc. whereas the hp 6145 (i'm not sure about the model) has wifi as well.
4. size/form factor... i think the p910 wins here.
other factors.... based on your own personal observations. some pda based devices u can try are the tro600/650, motorola mpx models, .. etc.

If it help my P910i is my first attempt at combining the PDA and phone. I have in past had small form factor phones and a PDA of some sort Palm and PPC. The transition was from a SE T610 & HP 5455 Pocket PC. As the previous poster mentioned it depends on what you want to use your PDA for. Me personally I used the PIM function (Calendar, ToDo, Contacts, Notes) If you use Outlook then a Pocket PC will give you closest replication of Outlook than a Palm or Symbian OS smartphone. I also used a secure wallet app to store important info (eg passport, Credit Card info), 5 Day weather forecast, up to date stock information, RSS feeds, and a digital ink application for writing notes like in a note book. The Pocket PC had WiFi and bluetooth, making it easy to get updates on the weather and RSS feeds.
So having bought the P910i the first smartphone I personally feel comfortable about lifting to my ear and not worrying about looking like I am holding a brick to my ear what do I think.
Well the OS is not as graphically pleasing as the Windows Mobile OS found on PPC's. However I have not had to soft/hard reset the phone unlike the Windows Mobile which drove me nuts, as I feel we have come to accept MS products are expected to crash as a way of life. This is a huge plus in my opinion for the Symbian OS device.
The phone does not have a customisable today screen like Windows Mobile. But I am getting used to that, as it is primarily a phone. You cannot sync categories with Outlook, which bugs the hell out of me as I used them.
The apps market for Symbian appears to be not to be as mature as the Windows Mobile market, also developers appear to be wishing to charge significantly more than the Windows Mobile guys for apps that I feel are functionally less. $20+ seems to be a the price the developers think they can charge for their apps in the Symbian world.
Having said this I accept the device for what it is and I am still striving to leave the PPC alone. I am very pleased with the P910 despite me unfairly trying to compare it to a dedicated PDA.
My advice, think about what you would want to use the device for. Look at websites with shareware for both devices (handango.com) go and play with both devices in a shop.
Regards
Ro

I have an IPAQ and a P900 when i bought the IPAQ it was great but allways needed my phone with me as well.fl. but since getting the P900 i hardly bother with the IPAQ reason? P900 does everything the IPAQ dld better! Also i no longer have to carry IPAQ and phone to send email and browse IMHO single multifunction device everytime PDA is like a desktop you need a mobile or wifi to connect to the web so why bother?8

I have a P900 and I do not miss the IpaqHP6315. I am not using the synch function, because it is error prone. The only thing which I would add with a pda is solid synch and wifi, but I can live without it and can do everything I want with my P900.

@hakan I am in the same boat as you. I need to buy either a PDA or a P910. I have pretty much decided that I would rather have one device than two, so I am leaning towards the P910.
I only wish that I could actually find a store that would let me use one of these exclusive

phones. I have managed to see one or two in stores, but they won't let me turn them on. So I know how it fits in my hand, but not how it operates.
I think I am just gonna order one online, and use it for a day or two. Once I have used it, if I like it I'll keep it. If not, then it goes back and I buy the PDA.
By the way I am looking at an iPaq rx3715

roland harvey, by using Tracker, you can pretty much customize your p910 in the most amazing ways, including a today screen.

Can anybody tell me whether i can type long documents on the p910 (Is a MS word like application built into it? or is any separate application available like that?)
And can i transfer the written text documents onto the PC for printing out or e-mailing?
One more thing - is there any application like MS excel in it? well i'm a doctor and i'd like to keep short records of my patients and different drug dosages and schedules for quick reference, and also transfer them to my PC...Possible?
I understand the p910 is primarily a phone and not a full PDA, but i'm was just wondering if the above can be done...
Looking forward to a reply... cause i am planning to buy a P910 real soon..

the P910 comes with both word and excel viewers/editors built in, and a powerpoint app that can be downloaded from the SE site for free. and yes, you can send the documents to your PC for printing.
emails can be synced with MS outlook, along with your calendar, tasks and notes, although as stated above, contacts folders on your phone are not recognized by outlook. outlook just takes your contacts and dumps them all in one phonebook.
