When I open the flip of my P910, I get a vertical column of icons down the left without any text to the right of them. Some of these icons have quite useful functions, for example touching the "Messages" icon displays the number of unread SMS and MMS without opening the messages application. Touching the "Phone" icon displays the number of missed calls. Touching the "Calendar" icon displays a list of today's appointments.

The network name and the time (but not date) are displayed at the top of the screen.

Are all P910's are like this, or has this been put there by Orange? I ask because there is absolutely no mention of this homescreen in the generic P910 instruction manual, yet the Orange instruction manual has screenshots of it.

I have to say that although I am interested by this feature, I can find no way to configure it (e.g. to add/remove icons) so I don't like it. Basically, while at first looking good, it seems to just add an extra click or two for anything you want to get to.

Does anyone know what I am talking about or have Orange not sent out many P910i's yet?

Has Orange installed some kind of Skin Tracker on the P910, to do the ICONs down the left hand side of the screen, and can it be changed or reset back to the P90 origanal settings

No. The homescreen icon is fixed and can not be removed. It can not be configured either.

Why has orange done this.
Will the firmware update remove this cand change to the Origanal
Or can you change the Orange screen to the origanal SE P910 screen

Because Orange tries to "impress their customers with their own design".

Firmware upgrade... yes indeed. This is just another reason why any new firmware that SE release will not be available on Orange until many months later. Cynical, but some truth there I suspect.

This is typical bloody Orange unrestoring my faith, so soon after restoring it (see below )

God only knows why they feel compelled to constantly screw up menu systems, but I have a sort of way round this Homescreen (which, as far as I can see, adds NOTHING to the functionality of the phone, since it is not configurable!)

I have set SMan to autoload when the flip is opened, and can either run programs from there or go to the standard applications list with one button, so fortunately, I do not have to abide Orange's stupidity!

Well done to Orange for trying to arse up another handset(!) and well done to and the 3rd party developers for giving us other outs!

Unfortunately, they do this with every phone they sell. That's one of the joys of being with Orange!

I'm thinking of Upgradeing to the P910i on Orange
But if this homepage can not be remove, why should I.
I might purchase an SE P910i not on contract.
Is there any way to get it back to the origanal screen
