Yo

Just got my s700.. mmmm.. niiiice

Had it on charge since 10:15 but it looks like it had a reasonable amount of charge in it already.

Do I really have to have it on charge till 2:15pm? Does 'overcharging' it the first time round increase the long-term battery capacity?

cheers

Well, I guess they write down the instructions for you for a reason... This message was posted from a T68i

I can't believe how many battery threads we are getting lately and this is a question that is asked so so many times!

my standard answer is that i4 hours initial charge is what is written by the manufacturer of the phone in the manual they wrote so why would you want to do anything different?

Yes, I can see that in the manual as well... my post was more of a question around the logic of overcharging, from a technical point of view

I appreciate that people tend to ask the same questions and dont use the search tool, but pls dont get to stroppy about it. Life's too short.

First time drain it, then charge it in off mode. U should charge in the future 6 days in on mode til batt full, then get off the plug, 1 day a week in off mode a night long. This message was posted from a T68i

I don't get stroppy

I think my point is that the answers don't change from day to day so those other threads probably have the answers you seek and repeating them ad nauseum in new threads really doesn't help

I'm sure I am not alone in having seen enough battery threads lately and when I next get some spare time, I'll make a list of the most useful battery threads (including, for example, the sticky thread "Tips to care for your battery " ) and add links to them in the Answers to the most common questions on Esato Forums (FAQ style)

Vlammetje - I quite don't agree with that . .. Whatever it takes, we should be at all cost, follow what is stated in the manual - it's been tested by the manufacturers and I guess it will be just prudent enough to abide by what the good book says!
