> P900 video playback problem

I have downloaded a 30mb video to a 128mb MS Duo (nothing else on the MS). When I try to watch it, it plays back very slowly, approximately at 30-50% speed. The movie file itself is not the problem, as one of my friends can play it fine on a P900. I have set buffering to max. I have 10.1mb available space on internal memory. I use sman to shut down running apps etc. I am running R2C01 firmware.
Will a firmware update solve the problem, or is there something else which can be done? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
