Hi there,

linked in to my other topic about s700i on vodafone, i've got a few questions about the phone itself that i'd be greatful for some answers to.

How well does the phone work with bluetoothing to a Mac? I know Mac's have tighter bluetooth intergration, but is this phone compatible? I'd like to be able to transfer files (photo's/mp3's/theme's etc) and use the SMS/Caller identification built into Address book. This all works fine on my T630.

Is it true vodafone don't allow MP3 ring tones unless they're purchased from vodafone live? If so would I have grounds to return the phone if I got it and said it didn't perform up to its specifications? What else have vodafone done to this phone specifically? If I use different theme's would they cover up vodafones GUI changes?

Is it possible to get ok/good photo's in nightclubs and pubs? Is the camera less sensitive to movement than that on the T630?

How good is the lock switch on the side? Could you accidentally trip it if you are wearing tight trousers?

Can all files on the phone be sent via bluetooth? I don't have a memory card reader.

Does the phone have a normal minijack connection on it to allow mp3 listening from standard earphones?

Can I insert a phone number from the address book into a text message?

Sorry I thought of a few more

How likely do you think it is that it will be possible (through a firmware update) to record and play movie clips at a higher or full screen resolution? I wonder if the processor is not fast enough to do this, hence the limitation. Also is it technically possible to use the Pro memory sticks, again with a software update. It would be nice to stick 1/2gigs in there for an MP3 player.

Thanks for that,

I had already read several dozern threads accross several forums about general questions of the s700i but there were still a few questions that I had that hadn't been conclusively answered. I know these kind of threads get annoying, which is why I tried to make sure I didn't ask anything already answered somewhere else.

The 128mb limit and full screen video has been discussed everywhere from what I can see - but hasn't been conclusivly answered yet. I'm not asking if it's possible to do at the moment, I know it isn't, I'm asking if anyone technically minded knows if it will be possible in the future with software updates. Does the hardware to support these features exist in the phone already?

The other questions I have don't appear to have been answered else where, If they are then I apologise. Believe me I have been reading and researching this phone alot over the last week or two.

I'm at that stage where there's just a few things niggling me before I decide to go ahead and purchase.

@Tychomatic

I see you learn the way of Esato quickly my young paduan.

Seriously though, it should be possible to enable full screen video playback through a firmware upgrade, this has been discussed in the thread I linked, although there is no definite answer, basically because no one knows what SE will include in future updates. I suppose that they might include this feature if enough of a fuss is raised about it.

The memory stick question is one that I am not terribly sure about, again I would have thought it possible to enable support for higher capacity memory sticks through a firmware upgrade.

Not so much learning how to use esato as general internet forum rules. The universal law is definately search first! But yeah I'm a noob here, one thing I have noticed is that this site is very multinational! I think I should remember to include things like 'UK' and specify where I am more. I shouldn't assume everyone knows how much £500 is.

The video thing I believe is probably a hardware limitation. I agree with others that the phone's processor wont be able to cope very well with FS video at an acceptible frame rate. The storage issue - Well i'm really looking for a compact device that will take ok to good photo's, function as a phone/sms base for a light user and have the ability to play MP3's. This phone fits that bill but it would be so nice to have 1gb of MP3's. This would save me from carrying around an iPod mini.

Any idea's about the questions in the first post of this thread?

@Tychomatic

There actually seems to be a tendency amongst many, if not for a while, then certainly recently to assume that it is the UK one is speaking about.
