Hello People, I'm new here and getting seriously confused with all the different posts!

Ok, I'm new to all this flashing, unlocking, debranding type stuff.

I've just got hold of a new k700i Vodafone handset, my mate already had one and had taken it back to Vodafone on several occasions, when he got his latest phone it had the R2N001 firmware installed, he was told he could now use his own .mp3's as ringtones. The next day I got mine through the post (also R2N001).

Went to assign my own .mp3 ringtone and......nope.

My mate then told me he'd had the same problem, he'd got the key next to the pre-installed .mp3's but still couldnt assign his own tones. We then stumbled upon the DRM trick. This failed, the mp3 appears with the key next to it, but still won't assign.

So, I'm left with a phone thats been messed up by Vodafone, why the hell would I want pictures of butterflies, fish and some dodgy seafront amusement type venue? Ok, maybe Mr. Vodafone likes that sort of thing, but not me!

Back to the mp3 thing, sent an email off to VF, just got a response, 3 days later, as we speak.............

"Thank you for your mail.

The firmware software will be released allowing you to MP3 as tones, however, we have not been given a time frame as yet.
If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us."

Ok, same robotic response everybody else seems to have received, apart from missing out the word USE in the first sentance - robots arn't perfect either !

So I'm left with the final option. Debranding.

Because I'm an idiot and get confused so easily, is there any chance some one could post up an "Idiots Guide to Debranding (though I've heard you have to unlock first)", including what hardware to use, the T28 cable seems to be the most mentioned.

Also whether it will work on a R2N001 Vodafone handset? What totalfileserver files I'd need being in the UK etc.

I know your all extremely clever, so someone please spare a few minutes to help a fellow k700i owner out
