I've purchased a "ANYCOM Blue USB Adapter USB-240" dongle for my office computer ( http://www.anycom.com/anycom/index.php?lang=en ) and seems very nice, with great software and everything.
From my office I can pick up every phone passing in the street below. LOL
The pairing with the phone is fine and OBEX File Transfer is reliable (when it works). I'm using Windows XP SP2.

*BUT* sometimes I can't make the two of them to connect, besides they are paired!!
They detect each other, but the file transfer fails to start.
Unpairing and pairing again does not seem to fix it.

I've only found one solution until now, to reboot both the computer and the phone at the same time.
When the computer comes up, bluetooth is already paired and working fine again.

Is this normal?
Is there a way to restart bluetooth (or whatever) without rebooting all the devices?

I can't figure out this thing alone ...

My friend there is surely something worng with ur bluetooth settings, OBEX file transfer works fine for me and i had never come accross such problem till date. my advice to u is try uninstalling the bluetooth sw completly from ur pc, remove the entries from the windows registery related to ur sw only (at ur own risk) reboot the machine and then try installing the sw again. things will work fine mate

I'm not sure it will fix anything, simply because it works 90% of the time and a reboot fixes it.
I don't understand I thing about the Bluetooth protocol, but I think that sometimes, somehow, the two *paired* devices seem to need to get something restarted so the encription? works again.
I'm just making up....

I'm using the Sygate Personal Firewall (very good and free) and disabled the XP firewall.
I noticed that besides there is no warning from the firewall because of the BT addapter, it lists the BT as a separate connection.
Just fort the sake of it, I created an advanced rule to allow all comms that use the BT connection. I don't know if it fixes something, but I'm hoping it will fix!!
I'll test it in the next few days. As I said, it only fails once in a while.

Now a question for the BT Gurus outhere:
- The pairing was only needed once, I agree. But then I transfer a file using file sharing from the PC to the phone, the phone always asks if the connection is permited.
I have the phone configured with "Allowed to connect without confirmation" but it still asks for confirmation. Bug?

I have the same problem running OS X. however, I easily solve it by simply "repairing" the device. For some reason it works like a charm right after it is re-paired.

I would love to find that option in my Windows XP...
Repair only exists in Network->Local Area Network (network card), not Bluetooth network. Besides, I'm not using a Bluetooth network.
