> best deal on o2 uk upgrade?

First of all hi to everyone as this is one of my first posts!
I have been on my current o2 contract for almost 12 months now, which means it is almost time to upgrade my trusty T610. I was just woundering what deals other people have managed to haggle out of o2! Ideally i am after either a P910 or S700 though wouldnt mind a k700. only problem is i aint a very big spender usualy just my £25 line rental so not sure how good a deal i can get out of them!

K700 is free on any monthly contract just now, S700 is £199.99 on any monthly contract, P910 not available directly from O2.

But they may try and charge you to upgrade to a k700 (£40 or something) like they tried to do to a friend of mine. In which case just cancel the contract and get a new one online, and get the phone for free.

They will charge at least 30 quid to upgrade to a k700, don't think you'd get the two mentioned at a reasonable price. Sure you could cancel, but then you've got the hassle of a new number.

I was thinking of trying out a suggestion my friend made. He said to call up as though i wished to cancell my contract (even though i dont) and they will make me a good offer to stay. Has anyone else tried this?If so what sort of result did u get?

Why should you have to pay £30 to upgrade to a phone that you can get for free on another contract? With 500 free texts it shouldn't be a problem letting people know your new number. Also a new contract will give you 3 months free insurance

But you might as well try to and see what you can get out of them by saying you are going to cancel, see if you can get a s700i cheap if you agree to move up to the £30 contract.

There is no overlap when you request and use a PAC code. O2 will charge you, pro-rata, up to the date that your number was ported away from them, and your new network would charge from the date they take over the number.
The offer you are made will depend on your service provider (O2 deal through many independent service providers who provide billing and customer services for them and manage accounts). Depending on the generosity of your particular provider, who knows what you might get, though threatening to leave (pleasantly
) and requesting a PAC code tends to yield the best results.
If you do decide to move, I would not recommend O2 Online as, apart from having to change your number, their customer service is abysmal and only available either via email or on a premium rate phone number.
You would be better off joining Orange, where the deal is very similar to O2 Online re 500 free texts (providing you buy over the phone or online) and you are still served by Orange's standard customer serviceson a freephone number (when called from your mobile). This will only enable you to get a K700i fo free however, as the others will still be expensive through any provider on a £25/month contract.
