does hard resetting revert your firmware to the original one? or does it retain the latest one that you upgraded?

Firmware flashes can not be reversed unless the phone is flashed again. Reset does nothing, but restore the integrated software that is inclusive of the firmware. So in short, NO.

What kind of question is this i guess ur talking about master reset, well doing that will not revert ur firmware neither it will upgrade ur firmware to a new one.

A master reset will wipe out everything, even stuff install at factory. Unless it's in the A or Z drive. But firmware stays the same, or what it has been flashed to.
