Im trying to txt a UK mobile which is currently in another country.

When I recieve txts from them the number comes out as +44theirnumber.

Now when I txt back should I be using the country code number or the same number that the txt came from (+44)?

Would using +44 only go to their mailbox in the uk or something?

It's worrying me as im afraid none of my txts are getting through since I don't appear to have any replies.

Im on O2 using sony ericsson k700i

It is not necessary to add the "+44" when texting a UK mobile number thyat is abroad, as the number is still sent through your "message centre", which already has the dialling code inputted.

However, when texting from abroad, you should always use the full code.

So using the +44 number, the txt message should actually go to the mobile regardless of what country it's in?

So they will actually recieve the txt in that country... im worried that they will only recieve it when they come back to the UK.

Do you only use international codes like +31 +33 when the mobile is from that particular country?

E.g. a french mobile is +33

Yes they will receive it and yes, you are absolutely right about when to use the other codes. The only thing to bear in mind is that messages sent to users in other coutries (whether a UK mobile or not) are reliant upon the, sometimes very unreliable, foreign partner networks, so they may not always deliver and you generally won't receive accurate delivery reports, if any at all.

Cool thanks for the info.

So I don't actually need the +44.. Ive been using it so far to reply to the txts because they came in that format.

This may seem like a silly question, but using the +44 code couldnt have hindered the message from getting through could it?

no it would not have hindered it in any way.

I have all my phone numbers in my phone book in international format (saves the hassle when calling from abroad myself) and there is absolutely no reason why that should have any negative impact on national calls or texts.
