Hi Guys and Gals
Firstly I am a new member and its great to learn so much about my phone from a vast knowledge base.
I noticed a new 910 available with support for bigger memory sticks than 128mb. After a few seconds of thats well cool i gotta get me one of them thoughts i came back down to earth and realised i have to wait until July for my orange upgrade to kick in or part with some hard earned cash which is rather sparse.
Now I know this is a well troden path for discussion and i initially tried to find a previous post enlightening me to a simple firmware update. As far as I can make out there is no simple answer other than NO.
If you can guide me to the the correct thread it would be appreciated but otherwise I found a link on ebay.co.uk where someone is selling...
"Convert SE P900 to P910
How you can update your P900 to P910 (remove ms limit)"
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBay[....]ory=80094&item=6334188442&rd=1
...with various other features unlocked. Now when something sounds too good to be true it usually is. But for £4.99 it may be worth a shot and i'll post results if they dont turn out to be fraudulent.
But first I'll see if I can get the relevent info for free first from this most excellent forum ((Grovels on bended knee)(thinks to self "Strange what i'll do to save a fiver")).
If I cant then maybe the best course of discussion maybe to go down the road of "how likely am I to get ripped off?" or "should I trust this seller?"
discuss...

First of all don't trust this guy. It is only info on how to convert. To do it you need some serious equipment.

What I think you should consider is whether you want to sacrifice having several BT devices (ie headsets, pc dongle, etc..) not working with your P900 afterwards. I got to talking with the blok that started the whole conversion thread. I know he's wasn't out to con anyone as he's done the conversion several times. He's very knowledgable with the internal workings of the Pxxx. His charges are the exact same prices as what any service centre would charge for a normal firmware flash.
With that said, several other service providers have gained access to the tools required for the conversion. They should not charge more then the they would for a normal flash because the procedure is still exactly the same. I would not trust sending your phone to anyone that you can't get in phone contact with. Nor someone that is not willing to go the extra mile to provide you with some personal assurance of getting your unit back. Needless to say, the conversion does work. The limit can be broken. But again, the biggest sacrifice is not being pair several BT devices to the unit nor not being able to use the 850mhz band that the P910a is supposed to have. The choice is yours. You're at your own risk.
