Why dID SE chose MS-DUO over the MMC? And what are the differences between the two? And is the MS, better than an MMC in any ways?

and about which one is better i have no idea, i prefer memory sticks because all my stuff is sony so it makes life easier

If you dont realise... Sony wants everything tat relates to their product... must be use with their product tat is Sony... They are trying to cover every market.. by producing everything themself... Memory stick & MMC are basically the same except.. memory stick is Sony version of MMC.... so if u buy a sony product... you have to buy sony assesories... do u think one day sony will let users use 3r party products, like the MMC?? No.... coz that will eventually destroy the whole point of covering every market...

well i know sandisk also make memory sticks but im not sure how it works, i think sandisk could be some affilaty of sony or sumthing like that

well without researching much all I know is that mmc is quite old technology which was superceeded my SD (secure digital) in order to provide a much faster data transfer rate. so a comparison of SD and ms duo is probably a better discussion
mmc is hard to find in large capacities too
I don't know much more than that but I'm glad
chose memory stick over mmc if only for performance reasons
I'm sure if ever they do support other formats it will be "as well as" memory stick and not "instead of" memory stick

Yes MMC is oldest of these three (MMC / SD / MS) but it is developing all the time. The newest spec is MMC 4.0 which in fact is the fastest card available and 4 times faster than SD. See

It is also available as 1 GB right now and 2 GB MMC is coming any time now, see

And MMC is the one and only royalty-free flash memory now so it will stay as the cheapest choice.
There is other advantages for SD as it can take other cards as memory cards, like SD Wi-Fi and SD GPS. But Memory Stick doesn't have even these advantages so I would call it the worst of these three.
Sony have also started to offer other memory-slots in its digicams. DSC-F828 has CF slot for greater capacity memory card because MS can't offer enough memory capacity!
