is there a way to disable incoming SMS?
i have t-mobile $2.99 with 300 SMS plan, i was thinking to drop the plan. i understand they charge $ for incoming SMS as well, and i wan to know if i can block all incoming SMS?
if i remove the SMS service center address number under messaging accounts -> SMS. will that do the trick?

They charge for incoming sms? That's rediculous!!!! Tell them to shove it and get an O2 PAYG sim.

Unfortunately he's in the U.S.; 02 isn't an option.

T-mobile's the only true PAYG service available on GSM in the U.S.
I thought t-mobile had _stopped_ charging for incoming texts though. See here:

hey there,
i just checked out your link. it does say "Text messaging ($0.10 to send / FREE to receive)", but i believe that only applies to the T-Mobile ToGo plan.
i know it sucks that they charge incoming SMS. furthermore, they are now charging US $0.15 per international SMS. that is the reason why i want to try out the
www.smsbug.com application which you can buy 100 for 3 Euro (or US3.80 so each SMS is only 3.80 cents).
so i need to know of a way to BLOCK incoming SMS when t-mobile is charging them.

Sorry; misread your original post. Right you are; they do charge for incoming. If you'll allow me to say something possibly pointless and irrelevant again, I believe that the messaging center phone number is for your outgoing messages; deleting it would be like trying to hide by covering your eyes; you couldn't see them, but they'd still find you. Not sure there is any way to disable incoming texts...

no kidding. t-mobile charges for everything...greedy bastard
for within US -
Send, receive, and reply to text messages (up to 140 characters) using your phone. Messages may be sent to and from any T-Mobile phone or e-mail address. 5¢ per additional text message.
for international -

To be fair though (about the charging for incoming...), they charge correspondingly less for them. Witness the PAYG plan I linked to before; 10 cents/per text (which is not bad, even in most European countries; I pay 0.15/text in Belgium). Or, for subscribers, they charge 0.05 each way. Over time, that probably works out the same.
(U.S. operators all charge for incoming calls too. When I moved to Europe, I didn't believe my operator when they told me incoming calls were free. Of course, I pay 0.20/minute to make outgoing calls, so...
