If you try powering it on without SIM is there the same problem?

I recently tried updating via SE US (to check if it will install a new fw)..no problems afterwards..I have r2l.

is it advisable to try totalserver to reflash?

its always to reflash your phone instead of doing a MASTER RESET. performing master reset deletes some critical component files of your phone so its better left avoided.
The probable problem is that you are having a Software hangup after the upgradation to R2L00I FW, The phone files are conflicting some where. The solution is that you take it to the nearest SE service center and re-flash your phone completely, Its worth the money...

Master reset does not delete critical files . I know cuz i've done it twice.

However i agree with dj_wolf. Take it to a SE service station and let them take a look at it. I wud advise you not to use total server yet since it is not an official SE partner or supplier of f/w or somethin like that and may void your warranty.

@ Killer Dude..

Well I tried it thrice on my Z 600 had some problems, the phone booted slow..some memory went somewhere..Took it to Salora the engineer says avoid the master reset, bring to us we will re-format the phone FREE...! BTW We have this SE India Fan Club at Yahoo Groups !..It will be gr8 to hear from you..

i agree with kllr... there is a saperate memory on your phone for the FW files... it just deletes the user/dynamic memory and reloads it... master reset can nvr do any harm.... whereas there are problems with refashing it,,, everytime you flash your phone it is a risk.... if there is conflict, the phone may deny a new software / reflasing it... take it to point and ask them to solve it... that is the best option imo....
