My 1st post!
I have been looking for ages around this forum and would like the above question answered. As the SE update wont work at the moment, I thought about using Totalserver. For the same price I can decustomise. What functions are different? Do you get the icons for email on your screen etc.
You advise is valuable to me.......so thanks!

If you debrand using Total Server you will end up with original unbranded firmware, which means you will no longer have the desktop icons, as they are specific to Orange firmware.
Cheers,
Col.

My first post too
I've just de-branded and unlocked my (UK) Orange K700i with Totalserver this evening. You lose all the Orange customisation - so no icons for phonebook, SMS and Orange World on the main screen, no Orange World and Orange Downloads icons on the menu screen. You also lose the silly right-hand Camera softkey and replace it with the original "More" option. You can also customise the joystick.
However, when you connect to Orange World with a de-branded phone, you don't get any images - just text-only WAP. I guess Orange look for something in the WAP request which is only provided by the Orange customised phone. If anybody knows how to get this back (without re-branding to Orange) I'd be interested. This only affects the Orange WAP site - all other WAP sites are fine.

Im also aware after you debrand your phone, you invalidate you warranty.
If you have Orange care, when you return your phone for any reason and receive your replacement. When the phone arrives at the repair center, Orange will charge you for the rebranding of the phone.
They will either send a bill or place it on your bill.

I think the only thing you can do is to get a SE service centre to put the Orange Generic firmware back on it. You'll then lose the More soft-key, though, and shortcuts.
