hi - a little question for you all...
i've recently lost my o2 branded p900, and have been sent a nice new unbranded one. lucky for me that i back up my phone quite often.
one thing is bugging me tho. i remember reading about the people who managed to flash their branded phones with unbranded fw using the online update (some security loop hole or something).
the part i remembered is that some people said that after restoring their phones with "backup and restore" that the branding actually came back! my question to you is "is this true?"

I suppose in theory various elements of the branding (wap settings, etc) would be included in a backup and restore, so I suppose that this is possible. I don't have an unbranded P900 so I am unable to offer you a definitive answer, hopefully someone else can say for sure.

yeah i suppose its possible, but i thought that the branded startup and shutdown screens are on the A drive on the p900, and cant be modified. so i dont think that they would be restored if i uploaded the backup file. or would it?

A restore shouldn't effect the startup and shutdown videos, but I'm probably not the best person to be asking about this as I'm not an expert on it. Perhaps one of the moderators would be kind enough to move this thread to the P800/P900/P910 forum, where someone with more knowledge of the matter would be able to reply.
