How come SE decided to supply the P910i with a cheapy old Sandisk Memory Stick rather than a Sony branded one?

maybe because its cheapy?

my guess is that maybe they wanted to provide a PRO duo with the P910 since it supports PRO duo now and Sony themselves don't make 32mb PRO duo but sandisk do (or didn't but were happy to do so)

bit pointless supplying a 32mb PRO duo anyway since the P910 doesn't support the increased performance of PRO duo meaning the P910 treats a 32mb duo the same as a 32mb PRO duo

That aspect of it troubled me as well. The point of pro was supposedly driven to increase access time and other facets that regular dous didn't have. But the consumer doesnt see any translatable differences. With that said, I don't think any consumer should even look for brand before cost.

Maybe they sell cheaper but I bet they cost exactly the same to make! Especially if they're in the same factory!
