Does anyone have any experience downloading and surfing the web through EDGE on a PC. If so what are the speeds like (upload/download) what does it compare to? Is it realistic to think you can surf the web using edge after you have been using a cable modem for 2 years.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is EDGE? i know pxxx dont have it, and from what was said above i gather it' some kind of slow-dsl style GPRS, but im not sure.

Hi Nick, EDGE is Enhanced Data-rate for GSM Evolution, and is for GSM networks to support theoretical maximum speeds of 384 kbps, wityhout changing much of the existing infrastructure. So you can imagine the content u can watch on mobile phones tht support EDGE (ofcorz only if u have an EDGE enabled GSM provider!)... hope tht helped!

What about the pricing? Is it still the same as ones when you download on GPRS (meaning the data rate)? I haven't put much effort researching EDGE, cause p series phones don't have it and I dont use the internet on the phone much (just the usual e-mail check-ups).

you could do it if your phone is properly configured as a modem on your PC. i'm just not sure why you would want to do it on a regular basis since cable internet should be just as fast, if not faster than EDGE, and definitely much cheaper since the carriers will likely still be charging on a per kb basis.
useful tho if you use a laptop and want to surf while you're up and about.

Buddy you waste your time asking in here about EDGE.Go to a nokia forum 'try Prodigits'.Nokia cells do have edge and some far east networks support it already.Forget about Pxx if you want such cutting 'edge' technology :-)
