edit: now that the right-wing fascist mofos have control of all 3 branches of the government (remember that at least 1 democratic justice will retire in the next few years, leaving an opening for another conservative justice creating a 5-4 republican majority in the Supreme Court), I will now proceed to banish myself from the sh*thole called the United States of America
Any ideas on where i should go, peeps?

The only Americans I meet are the ones who come to the UK and they seem to be pleasant liberal-minded people with a deep concern for the effects of US foreign policy. Americans seem to be NICE people. So where do all these fascist morons come from?

they are the ones who stay in America
people who travel generally tend to see a broader perspective than those who don't.
Having said that..... today is one of the very few moments where i am actually thanking my good fortune years ago when I could no longer extend my work permit and visa for the USA

yeah its too bad that plenty of americans dont give a flying f**k what happens to others, as long as 'we' benefit.
once i played this game called the 'game of life'--we had two teams of about 50 people each, and we had to decide whether we would pick red or black. If one team picked red and the other picked black, then the team that picked red would get 2 points and the black team would get -1 points. If both teams picked black, we would both get 3 points. And if both teams picked red, we would lose 2 points.
Well we ended up trying to make our selves win by picking what we thought was best for US, but the point of the game was to have the two teams both pick so we would all win. Kinda showed me how selfish we as people are
It's really quite sad how even our leaders fail to recognize that we are part of an international community and we havea great responsibility as the most powerful nation to lead the world. Somehow we're always dragging the world back.
Look at the situation in the Middle east! If we follow through with out Iran threats, we could end up losing the middle east. Pakistan is on the verge of erupting, and whoop diddly do, we arent doing anything about it.
Yeah so here we come, 4 more years of isolationism and arrogance.
Just remember, people, lots of americans don't think like this. Please try to continue and respect the people for what they are, and there's a lot of extremely pissed-off and disappointed people tonight.

there's a lot of pissed off and diappointed people no matter what the result. Around 50% of your nation will hate the newxt president no matter which one it is.
The whole problem with the american so called democracy is that most people choose on basis of slogans+face of one guy partially and their neighbours/parents/friends/ancestors choices mostly.
Unlike over here, to make a balanced choice here you'd have to know what each party (and we have a lot more than 2) stands for. Americans choose based on the party of the guy and his appearance on tv more than on his real election promises and his plans for the future. I dare say over 60% of the americans do not know more than 10% of either candidates' program and promises.
And then there is the 'minor issue' that in 'worlds greatest democracy' (

) it is possible for reguistered voters to be refused entrance to the voting booth. This happened to friends of mine in Florida 4 years ago, the news reports said this year it happened again in Ohio. Ooooh the power of true democracy is that EVERYBODY gets to cast their own vote
Worlds greatest democracy (run by the republicans) also have managed to delete eligible voters off the voters list under the pretext that they have a criminal record. Incidentally they did not have a criminal record (I understand when you do you can never ever vote again?) but they had something else, something potentially equally bad apparently: a non-white skin colour.
So in the nation that thinks they are to lead this world to... -what exactly??- it is possible for registered voters to get deleted...... for people to get barred from entering the voting booth (we're talking physical aggression here), it is possible for a possible 100000 (according to the news this morning) votes to be cast of people that are NOT registered and may not even exist, may have moved, may have died or may have been arrested, to be accepted and taken in to the count.
I can't begin to think what else may 'gone wrong'
It sounds like a bad movie doesn't it? It sounds like a scenario for elections in Zimbabwe, doesn't it?
Does anybody else feel the need to send UN staff round to make sure the elections are done in a fair and democratic manner? Like we did in places like Kosovo?

Absolutely, Marga. If the US election took place anywhere in Africa or the countries of the former Soviet Union it would have been denounced by international observers.
