> Cell message icon on K700
Bookmark topic
I have been given a K700 that was on T-Mobile. I have had it unlocked to use on Orange. Since it was unlocked, a cell message has appeared on the desktop (small envelope with cb) and I cannot get rid of it. According to the manual, you just go into Messages and settings and there is an option in there to turn it off, but I dont have the setting to turn it off. Could it be that the phone needs to be unbranded too.
Another thing. Should WAP access still work ? I have setup the WAP settings (sent from SE site), but I cannot access the net. It just sits there saying connecting.
TIA
Alan

I'm not sure about the SE phones but back when I had a Nokia :| Some of the menu's were enabled/disabled depending on the simcard... I don't think Orange make use of cell info (if i'm thinking of the correct thing) so their sim cards might disable the menu. Try putting a T-Mob (or other) sim in and trying again
As for the WAP... I'm not sure, I thought it was enabled by default but maybe not. Try calling Orange and asking for a sim update to enable wap and/or gprs!
Hope this helps

Just tried putting a T-Mobile sim in. The phone doesnt display the Cell message icon, but when I put the Orange sim back in it re-appears
Also been playing with the wap access. This worked OK in my T68i with this sim card so I assume that the sim is OK. I couldnt get the settings that were sent from the SE site to work so I tried manually creating one based on the settings in my T68i (GSM data). When I click on the T-Zones button, it flashes up with the number then reports that its connecting the displayed the following message :-
No previous content availble
Stay in browser ?
If I select yes I end up back at the desktop !
What does this message mean ? How do I specify a different web site other than the T-Zones

@AlanC
Your using the Orange SIM card when your trying to use WAP, correct? If this is the case then what you need to do is to make sure you download the correct WAP settings from the SE website, the Orange ones in this case. Do not try to connect to the T-Zones site, input another address, the Esato WAP site will do for just now. When you have accessed the Esato WAP site make it your Home Page so that everytime you start your browser you will be automatically taken there and not to T-Zones.
You may also want to consider getting Orange to send you the settings.

Just spoken to Orange and they have sent me the GRPS settings for WAP access. I tried it again and still no joy. It just sits there saying connecting. The customer services rep said that there was a reported GPRS fault in my area which was reported today and may be causing the problem, but I am not so sure because I tried this yesterday and couldnt get it working (thats why I tried GSM today).
I can seem to be able to change where the browser wants to take me (T-Zones). Maybe there will be more options about changing the homepage if I could actually connect. I was wondering if having it branded to T-Mobile meant that I could only initially connecto to the T-Zones site and would this limit my internet access ?

@AlanC
Don't use the T-Zones button to connect, use the actual browser option in the main menu instead, hopefully that might allow you to access the menu where you can directly input a WAP address and set that address as your Home Page.

There isnt a browser option in the main menu.
From the desktop, one of the buttons is a shortcut to T-Zones, from the main menu the second icon is a link to T-Zones (I am guessing that on an unbranded phone, this the the web browser) and the button on the right hand side of the phone is another link straight to T-Zones.
I guess this is looking more and more like I need it to be unbranded.

@AlanC
What you could do is to re-insert your T-Mobile SIM card and connect to the T-Zones site. Once you are connected visit another WAP page and set it as your Home Page.
