Hello!
Further to my recent posts on unbranding a Vodaphone branded P910i. I went to the CPW Service Centre in Liverpool today and i was advised they could not unbrand the Vodaphone rubbish on my P910i. Yet i remember someone from this forum advising they had theirs done at CPW. What is going on? :(

It's really very simple you asked for debranding which they are not allowed to do, I asked at Vodafone how to get the WAP/Internet settings unblocked (phone was already unlocked by Vodafone upon purchase) and they advised me to go to CPW.

Go to a different CPW and ask them how you can alter the Vodafone WAP settings assuming the phone is already unlocked by Vodafone? (preferred WAP / Internet is still locked to Vodafone) and let them suggest a Generic Flash which debrands the phone. DO NOT ask for debranding.

I agree - I am going to get it done for free [I hope so anyway!] - I said to them that Vodafone advised me to see CPW because I cannot change the WAP settings.

See http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=74274 for my story

Well i asked for a generic flash explaining i wanted to get rid of Vodaphone Live and advised them Vodaphone had unlocked it for me. The shop assistant said the engineer had said as the P910i was only a brand new mobile no software had been released for a generic flash of my P910i. Futhermore they suggested i ring to see if they can do it for me.

So it begs the question was the engineer at the CPW in Sefton Street, Liverpool being akward or was he not upto date in what can and cannot be done as i did mention that others had had their P910i unbranded at Carphone Warehouse?

I am not happy at all

I got told by CPW that they cannot flash my P910i with generic firmware because it has to be authorised by my network provider Orange.

Unbranding is the art of getting rid of unwanted mobile phone company branding on your phone. For example the notorious Vodaphone "Hello How are you" start up screen. It will also enable you to get rid of preset wap/internet settings on your mobile. Several people have successfully unbranded their mobiles via CPW. I cannot!!
Proabably due to lack of knowledge or lack of helpfulness at the Liverpool Sefton Street branch of CPW GRRR!!!
