Just read an article in Mobile Computing Magazine that was geared towards Bluetooth devices. They reviewed the T68/HBH-20 combo. I was amazed at how bad the reviewers found the T68 reception. They said that reception was "incredibly weak" outdoors and that they were "never able to to register any kind of reception" indoors. How true is this? Is the T68 reception really that bad? Is the T68i's better?

my t68i reception is not as good as my nokia 8850 was. In my home, the nokia always had full reception where as my t68i always seem to fluctuate.

From my experience, Ericssons don't have as better reception ad Nokias, but I wouldn't go as far as saying the reception on Ericssons is bad. I nearly always have a signal when Nokias have a signal, bar areas where Nokias have just about one bar.
For bad reception, I nominate my old Panasonic phone. Hmm, can't remember the model name. Well, it would lose signal when I put it in my pocket! I always missed calls, then received msgs saying I had voice mails when I took the phone out to check for msgs. etc.

My reception is fine, even better than my friends Nokia phones in certain areas.
I find those reviews totally inaccurate, as I have been over many place without losing reception on my T68i.

I think that is really important to realize that GSM service is not nearly as pervasive across the USa as analog, TDMA, and CDMA...therefore weak signal strength is to be anticipated, more so from the service providers, i.e. ATT, Voicestream, Cingular than from the phone

I must say I agree to the reception being weak.. Some times putting the phone in the pocket is enough to loose the connection. I have had several people saying they cant get through to me, even the phone has been switched on..

I also agree.My siemens SL45i had a better reception. and what I noticed is that you can block the reception completely by putting your hand at the back of the phone
. a nother thing i sometimes have is that I'm unreachable for people that are trying to call me but my phone has full reception . strange he.
