I have dual SIM cards and constantly keep switching the P900 on and off to switch the SIMs. Will this cause any problems?

I wouldn't have thought so, at least simply from the phone on/off point of vlew. Whether the switching dual SIM thing may have an effect I don't know

Please think about what you asked. Will turning off your phone and turning it on damage it. It has an on and off switch. Not just an on or just an off switch. Common sense is something that should be included in the box when you buy a phone.

I dont think I was clear enough?. Its as simple as it is for a PC. ...Its defintely always better to keep the PC running than constantly switching it on and off. Thats the reason I asked. Also, I found two times the P900 kind of hanged when I did this (ofcourse the number of times I have done this is very huge, so 2 is not a big number). Maybe its just fine.

I really wish I could change the SIMs with the phone on.

A phone has no moving parts other than the keys, thus preventing the start up wear and tear that comes with a hard drive. I am sure that your phone has been tested to x million button presses to get some kind of MTBF numbers. This is really a non-issue. Just use the phone dude.

Also, turning off the phone tells the switch that it should now take differnt actions, i.e. divert calls, foward billing data, etc... How would you book into the other network without first initiating a start up sequence via the pin and your password. Dude, relax. It is only a phone. Do not make more out of this than it is. Another option is to buy another phone. Problem solved.

Ya, its a phone... but its good to know what goes well with it and what does not
For example, maybe they took the flip and fed it into a machine to test x million key presses... but they definitely missed out the impact of the flip on the casing (refer to the other post discussing design flaw where P900 casing breaks at flip rest)

So, I guess its fair enough to discuss these issues here. Afterall, thats what this forum is for.

As for the effect of reboot... I dont have much clue. I just hope its not an issue

Hi guys, just to let you know I'm a technician and I have seen many customers breaking the switch off the PC board, which also ripped the tracks off, so just be careful when applying too much pressure on the switch.

Is that real? It scares me really bad boss... Is the switch so delicate? Do you have a pic of the damage?

Are you serious? If this is that big an issue, then sell your phone and get alot of coins for the pay phone. I do not know about your phone, but mine comes with a warrantee so I can get it fixed for free for one year. I never keep a phone longer than six months, so for me this is not a problem, this sounds like it is keeping you up at night, so the best thing to do would be to get rid of this headache.
