Hi All,

Please keep to the subject on this one..

I have recently debranded & upgraded my o2 k700i using total multi server.

Question on my mind now though > can you upgrade the firmware only?

The text at the top of multiserver says its free to do this.. but everyone including the instructions says you have to update the language also..

so, does anybody know if you can update the firmware only?
I know you can over the web with SE official site, but i dont own a sync station.. and dont really want to buy one..

also, does anybody know what would happen if you upgraded the firmware as above but to a branded phone?? would it fail? would it work but still be branded?

ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW?

yes it will still be branded... you can use the latest language pack availble??? what is wrong in upgrading language???? and if you want a unbranded version just select accordingly...

Hi there... theck this page out, http://www.totalserver.net/k700x.htm
I found this too late and now I am stuck with a Z1010 without the swedish T9 dictionary, still looking for the files to downgrade it.

Best of luck...

I am aware of the pages on Total Multi server - that is the program i used to debrand/upgrade.

Question is - can I now use multi server to upgrade firmware only as and when new ones are released on multiserver..

If you use multiserver, the main screen says at the top "firmware upgrade uses no credit/s" - its free
But to upgrade language also costs a credit - £8

So obviously i want to avoid being charged again to upgrade the firmware.

knasbollen - Just purchase another credit and select the swedish language pack to get your T9 back..

Yes it is free, but upgrading ONLY the FW file won't work, because you need the languagefile to match it. This is what it says on totalserver.net:
******************************************
Examples of file names

Normal Firmware File - K700_R2AA003_ZONE_1.K7S
Language file - K700_R2AA003_EU1.K7L
Default Language File - K700_R2AA003_EU1.K7D
Customisation file - K700_R2AA003_EU1.K7C

Important Information: the parts in bold and italic must match or your phone will not work

******************************************
It does not show here but R2AA003 is in BOLD

In other words, if you have a older FW on your phone, you can NOT upgrade just the FW. The only thing about the "free firmware upgrade" is that you pay one credit instead of two.

Yes I know I can fix the T9 dictionary, but it is just not worth 99SEK right now. I'm waiting for the right moment.

Ah right, thanks for clearing that up..

PS. as you seem clued up, do you know perhaps of any software out there that you can use to edit the k700 firmware?

Tried hex, but its useless.

I believe its coded & compiled in C, but has anyone been able to edit it that you know of?

No I have not read about someone "hacking" the code, it would be most interresting to se a modded version out there wouldn't it?
Or maybe send in a request to SE with your own specs and get a custom firmware

I dont know a lot about programming in C or C++, but since there are so many different kinds of C, I think it might be hard to find the right tool to "un-compile" it...

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this
