P9x0 camera is only 0.08 Mega Pixels
I took some pics this weekend with my P910i, wich turned out fine
(for a phone camera):

Later when analysing the pictures at home I reached the conclusion that besides the pics are 640x480, the P9x0 sensor is only 320x240 pixels of resolution.
What the SE firmware does is to take two snapshots in rapid succession and interlace the two pictures, so that the resolution seems to double.
This means the SE P9x0 has one of the WORST phone cameras in the marktet => ONLY 0.08 MegaPixels !!

If I want to take a picture, then I use my DSC-P73 camera, rather than my P910

I'm not saying that it's not a phone...
But they are advertizing a 0.3 MP VGA Camera, and that's a HUGE lie !!

Sorry but I have more reason to believe SE saying it is VGA than you that seem to have just DECIDED otherwise!!!

@placson
Take one picture in good light (outside) and shake the camera a bit while taking the photo. Use the maximum quality jpeg.
Go the to PC and see the image at 200% zoom.
Now take a good look at the edges of the objects. They are dented!Horizontally and vertically.
This means two images were taken. The images were interlaced to double the final image size.
Even lines are image 1, odd lines are image two. The same happens horizontaly.
Unless someone proves I'm wrong, I rest my case.

So you have NO proof it's not VGA!
By your reasoning it could just as likely be taking 2 VGA quality pics in order to improve quality!
