When playing the phone at chess I am unable to castle. The phone often uses this move but it is unclear how the player can do this. The Orange manual is useless generally but the online sony ericsson manual also provides no help. Any one out there cracked this problem?

I've always been able to castle easily
You just have to move the king 2 places to its final position and the rest of the move (the rook) happens automatically.
Of couse this will only happen when castling is allowed (king has never moved, and there no threat to it or any square thru which it moves)
Hope this helps you beat it

and there shouldn´t be standing anything between the king and the tower either
although the queen could like it
hail to the king!

by the way @chevronsable: if you´re asking for how to castle - do you know the move 'en passant' ?
just wondering..

3 rules. you cannot castle when in Check.
you cannot castle if the king or rook you are casting with have moved before.
and you cannot castle when any of the squares between the king and rook can be occupied by one of your opponents pieces.
i think thats it.

Something to do with taking a pawn with another pawn my moving to the square behind it rather than the square it's on.
It's a stupid rule in my opinion, and as far as I know, not official.
