No, basically

Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone all customize (bastardize) the firmware.

Only O2 sell them OEM.

You can get it flashed with generic firmware by some CPW service Centres.

Best thing is to buy sim-free or use a retailer that will supply an unmodified phone on the contract you want, but it will be slightly more expensive than the branded ones.

I paid an extra £80 for an unbranded one on Voda and saved a shitload of hassle.

do a search on this site for how to debrand or unbrand your phone! their is loads of info on it! will probs end up costing you £20-£30 pounds - but is money well spent in my opinion!

Hey sunj, long time no see mate anyway... i think he means he was offered £100 discount, i can get 200, but wanted to use it for the v3 and get that for 70, but 100 for the p910i is tempting.....?

hi m8, yea havent been around as much - trying to study! how u been? Depends really on what you want...if you want a smart phone with lots of features and pretty big then P910i otherwise go for V3 - theres only £30 in it...T-mobile were refusing to give me any discount on my upgrade to K700i so I left them and went to o2, my bro moved to 3, and my mum will be leaving them in the next month or so aswell!

Yeah sunj, i'm at uni, so of course i'm working hard
I like the style of the v3 but the functions of the p910i would be handy...can someone post a picture of how bad the branding is, please? Mate's got a v3, so should get the p910i to aviod the clash, but it looks so sexy

edit: trying to get the v3 and p9, so i get the best of both worlds though i have been offered a z1010 for a good price, so dont know which combo to have... v3 & p9 vs p910 & k7 or v3 & z1010? what would be everyones opinion? i dont need all the functions of the pxxx, though i would use most, except the mp3?
