Well decided to post this here until it's a more complete review and then it can be moved to the reviews section.

Alright,
lets start off with some basic info.
At the moment if you get a 3 contract in the UK, they'll give it to you for HALF price for three months. (at Carphonewarehouse, it's 12 months with a specific LG phone) Meaning 15 pounds for 500 cross network minutes nad 100 messages.
I was SOOO tempted and so I ordered an NEC 388 for FREE on that tarrif but for 12 months through MOBILEFUN.co.uk I later saw that it was going to be on sale with a pay as you go chip for 35 pounds anyway! So I thought, what the hell! I could be getting a better phone.
(i wanted to stay away from a big phone since I have the S700 now and I'll just have the 3 phone for the minutes) But...
I saw the Motorola A1000. I was drawn, 3's website sold it for 150 on that tarrif, 3g.co.uk sold it for 99.99 on that tarrif, and then Mobilefun.co.uk for 30 pounds!!! But with three months half price line rental. Comes to around 130 pounds extra (but that's like paying for the phone!) I mean, I pay 40 pounds for 200 voda minutes and they're CRAP.

Well first of all I'd like to thank DAZZLA/DARRYL for mentioning the site on his thread (about his 7610).

Note: the A1000 isn't on display on their site, I called them and they had it though! WHAT LUCK!

Oh did I mention they give you a case, bluetooth dongle, free delivery, immediate activation, and 3 months free insurance.

Alright, Some info:
THe A1000 is slightly smaller than the p900/p910, it runs on the same symbian ware as the P910 but does not support themes (according to a reviewer, but a friend said the CD came with an installation) however magicthemes can enable that.
It has everything you would ever need.
1.2 megapixel camera
2 camera's.
A stylus that extends longer
Glowing led's for status and the cool factor
Stereo sound, (three speakers, left, right, and back)
only downside is the 65K screen, then again, I want everyone to think of it this way.
It's not a replacement phone, it's just something on the side! Who else can just smash around a cool phone?

Pics?
Alrighty. I dont have the phone in my hands at the moment, but I'll post pics once I do, but here are some pics I got off the net.

Comparison shot.

example of picture quality.

SMILES HUGELY!

===========

Side note: DO NOT GO WITH VODAFONE! Just saw their site and their 3G is launched.

30 pounds for 200 minutes and you have to pay 150 pounds for the V800 *sighs*

not bad, not bad at all. I can see there is going to be some stiff competition coming up in te 3G world and I do like the larger display on this A1000 but I wonder if the live video or videos that you can download fill the screen?

great question!
I'll find out and post the results.
Any other questions, please let me know.
It'll be great to have a guide comparison to a P910 and any other 3G phone.

@amnesia

what about the memory card. is there any mmc or rs-mmc card included with the handset?
can you compare the quality and size of the screen with the p900? is it about the same?
and when you actually want to make a call, can you do it without the stylus?

Hey there,

To answer a few questions.

THe phone supports Transflash (that's basically a small SD card) It's actually mini since it's smaller than a Sim card! Before you sigh at the thought of ANOTHER memory card, it's actually quite cheap. Official cards come at 20 pounds for 128mb. (Max memory at the moment is 512)
The screen size is EXACTLY the same size as the P900's (unless I'm mistaken and it's a few mm bigger) It's 65K and is very vibrant. It is sharper than the P900 IMO.
The phone CAN be unlocked and use regular sim cards ( you're not stuck with 3) I read that a few people used vodafone and orange sims.
However in Italy, H3G service permantly locks it to work with their sims only (new locking method which I hope doesn't reach the UK)

Making a call is done by three methods, voice, touch screen dialpad, or phonebook.
(basically it's like the S700 in the sense that whipping out the dialpad is tedious)

Please ask me more questions as I'm more than happy to provide information. (since most sites dont seem to be that specific)

alright all
The phone finally arrived! Later than I expected!
So I'll take a few snaps and write a small review. Questions of course.

Oh and I'm getting my hands on an E1000 tomorrow (or thats what they said)
