Where in disk the Backup & Restore program saves the backups?
I have a problem - I need to restore a deleted JPG file from an old backup.
How can I do that without reverting all my phone to back to the past ???
I can't believe I'm the first guy in this universe that needs to do this.
I did it all the time with my Palm...

I can't believe it either so use the search, there is even a utility that can do what you need.

I believ this is the solution,
rename the backupfile to .zip
Then unzip this file, now you should be able to browse the files within the backup and select the .jpg file that you need and then you can easily put it back.
If you're having troubles locating the backupfile then you should start the backup and restore utility and check out where it stores the backups.
good luck

I don't know about any utility but here is how I get files out of backups.
first you have to locate the backup file which is in
C:\Documents and Settings\yourloginname\Application Data\Sony Ericsson\backups
each file there is a zip file from each backup you have done and can be opened directly with winzip (no renaming requiring). Just right click and choose "open with" and choose winzip
in there you will see a whole load of sequentially number files which don't really mean anything to you or I but you will find a text file called filestore.dat.txt so open that.
in there you can find the real filename of the file you want and its corresponding sequential number within the zip file so from that you can select that numbered file and extract it and rename it back to its original name
This is good for getting an external file out but if you want to restore some contacts for example then you need to find (in this case) the contacts.cdb and extract that, then do a full backup from your phone, then open that new backup and determine the sequential file number for contacts.cdb in that zip file and replace that numbered file with the one you extracted from the old backup. then its simply a matter of doing a restore to your phone.

Many many thanks!! It worked!
As usual, SonyEricsson software is always incomplete.
It can restore whole backups, but not a list of files from a backup.
I wonder if the guys at SonyEricsson actually use SonyEricsson phones ...
Thanks!!

I'm not kidding you.
I know a guy in Siemens (Portugal), in the development area, and they don't give Siemens phones to their employees. He is using an old Nokia...

Hi guys, need some help please. When I look for my backup files. I can't seem to open them with winzip. When I try, i get the ""cannot open file: it does not appear to be a vaild archive"
I think I need to rename the files to .zip first, but even when I do that, it does not change the type of file (i.e I think only the name changes).
So my question is how do I change the file extension of the backup files to .zip so I can open them with Winzip and select only teh needed files?
Many thanks for any help
