Well yes and no... You won't end in jail for doing it, but you will for sure loose your warranty. TC, Velimir

specifically, what do you mean "de-brand"?
do you mean simply physically remove a logo from the phone's cover/face plate?
if so, then no, this is not illegal and it does not usually void any warranty.
do you mean changing firmware to firmware not authorized by the service provider you bought it from?
if so, then still no. it is not illegal. however, it usually does devoid yr warranty.
for example, if you wish to remove the vodafone live menu, then this will devoid yr warranty. it is not illegal however.

Exactly. Remove all service provider software tweaks, preferences and graphics, through a remote unlocking/debranding service.
Thank you for your replies.

As far as I know the only thing that is illegal is to change the IMEI number. Thats in the UK at least.

If I had debranded my phone and if after such an event I noticed that the last 2 digits of my IMEI number had changed to 09 when it was 01. Would that count as changing my IMEI number.
If (not thatI'm saying I have) done this should I report myself to the nearest police station??????

If you manage to live in Manila . . . well you are one hell of a lucky guy, as everything is ILLEGAL

! Even changing of IMEIs is like just a walk in the park, comes in very cheap too - US$ 9.00, for the SE T610/T630 and P800 . . .

The last 2 numbers on the IMEI are only

indentifier numbers. Dont know what they are used for. Just ignore them, you havent actually changed the proper IMEI number.

It's illegal only if you are de-branding someone elses phone without their knowledge.
