You know when you dial using a landline and you hear those tones as you press the buttons? Well, this feature allows you to create those tones using your Pxxx. It's then possible to make a call on a landline by holding the Pxxx speaker to the earpiece and pressing the appropriate buttons.

"What's the point of that?" I hear you type, "That's what my landline phone has its own buttons for!".

Well, it would enable you to use a phone if some of the buttons are broken, but also, if you find one of those phones in a supermarket (for taxis) or out of hours in the cashpoint area of a bank (to speak to customer services), they usually just have one button which dials a preset number. You could use the dialer to ring anyone you like for free. Although not sure the supermarket/bank/wherever would like that very much.

The other thing that would make this useful is if you could select a number from your contacts for the dialer to ring. That way, if you want to call someone from a landline, it saves you typing out all the digits manually (and possibly making mistakes). Unfortunately, you can't do this.... yet.

Hope that was a sufficiently detailed answer!

Also if you want to use pay phone (those are almost extinct though) and that phone don't let you call out. Put dialer up to mic and let tone dial phone for you. Remember in some places, such actions is illegal.
