Does anyone know how to convert mp3/wave files to ring tones? Is there any (free) software to do that?

on some phones you can use mp3/wav as ringers
but you cant convert them to midi as midi is event-based (like there's certain chords and certain notes in certain places) and mp3 is more like just sound
(sorry maybe someone else can explain it better)

Thanks everyone for the tips! What about converting to mmf format? I got a software which is said to be able to convert mp3 to tones with voice, but it doesnt seem to be working!
