Ok I recently went out and purchased a bluetooth adapter and under SP2 it wouldn't work.
I have now worked out a work around and thought I would post it.
Firstly you must install your bluetooth drivers then connect your bluetooth device, It will usually be picked up, however your PC may be using the Microsoft drviers and not the ones you have just installed. This means that you will have an icon in the sys tray which still state
"bluetooth device not found" - here is my workaround to get a FULLY working Bluetooth device.
1) Go to Control Panel and put it into the "Category View"
2) Click on the Printers and other Hardware
3) Click on Bluetooth Device and then the Hardware tab
4) Now highlight the drivers with the Question Marks and click on Properties
5) you should now be given the location of the microsoft drivers
6) Go to their folder and change the names to BTHUSBB.BAK
7) uninstall your bluetooth device
8 ) now install the device and choose the location of drivers (the ones from your CD - Widcomm in most cases.
Now all should be OK and you should get the Bluetooth Wizard

I can't understand the problem with bluetooth in SP2. I just plugged it in and am now happily using thebuilt in program in XP...

I can send stuff to my phone using the SP2 software but i can't send a thing to my pc from phone... They both find each other fine but when i try to send from the phone it will always fail... My Dongle is nearly three years old tho... Maybe it's just out of date...

Yeah, your dongle may need an update, I suppose you have clicked "recive files" under the bluetooth menu?

oh, I have a friend who has problems with bluetooth as well, I must've gotten lucky. I had some problems with USB 2.0 and had to uninstall and reinstall all the USB driver a couple of times. When I'd gotten it to work I just had to plug in the dongle and it worked...

The issue I had when trying out this method is that Windows automatically installed the MS driver each time, and on attempting to update it said that no better drivers were found.
(so I thought lets sort it so Windows doesn't find the XP_SP2 drivers) and then it won't do the compare and will install mine.
This is how I got it to work.
Sorry if it counts as a Duplicate post but I did read the forums and nothing suggested worked - I didn't see the 2nd thread that you linked to.
I just shared the info incase anyone else couldn't get theirs to work either after trying everything else.
(Actually your right and it is the same as what "finflash" said so props go to him)

@zoro 25. Tried it and it does'nt work on mine. Am using XP professional. Got mine to work by uninstaling the bluetooth software and then removing SP2. Then install the bluetooth dongle and reinstall SP2. Now works with no problems at all.
