> Text messaging with the k700i
Bookmark topic
Hey, my brother use to come on these forums all the time, i never had a sony ericsson phone so i never saw the need to come here, But i bought a brand new sony ericsson k700i phone today, its a little gem i love it

.
Alas, i have 1 problem, i cant seem to send text messages, only media messages, i go to Messages --> Write Message, and i need to click MORE then insert TEXT then i write the message, and it sends it as a media message.
I had a look at the hand book, and it said i was to go to Messages --> Settings --> then make sure text messages was enabled or on or whatever, but i dont have that option, i have
Message Alerts
Picture Messages
Push
... Does anyone know how i can fix this :s or if there is a fix for it?
Thanks
Paul

it seems you are missing SMS messages... normally when you press write new Phone asks you to choose if you want to write text message or Picture message...
i really have no idea. maybe your network provider disabled Text messaging. I know this is stupid answer, but I never heard of something like this.
Try your SIM in another phone or even better another K700.

ill try putting sim in other fone :]
Is it possible that because the phone is just new, and only activated a couple hours ago, that the text messages arnt yet activated yet and may start working tomoro or something?

@paulor - If you can just send Media Messages, then the very simple of sending SMS should be already working! Yup, should be network related problem here. Try inserting other local network's simcard (if your fone is UNLOCKED) . .. then try sending some SMS if it will work. Also, have you upgraded your firmware to - R2L... or R2AA...
