Hi, I tried a search but to no avail, sorry if this has been asked before

I recently got a P910i on Orange and so it has the dusty firmware they provide :/

What I am wondering is how tracker operates in conjunction with the flip on non-Orange firmware phones incase, as I am suspecting, this Orange firmware is playing around with tracker's normal operation.

On my phone, when the flip is closed, Tracker disappears, is this normal? Then a plain homescreen with operator name, time battery and signal meter is displayed on a user selected wallapaper. Does tracker have an FC mode?

tracker has been set to pop up on Flip open but this does not happen, the standard homescreen takes over and appears with the Orange customised (relocated) shortcut icons placed on the left.

At the moment I am using the Internet/web button to bring up tracker once the flip has been opened.

Is this the case with other Orange users? Has anyone had success without having to unbrand their phone?
How do other applications such as handy day and active desk fare in such situations? I'm lookin to get one of these apps but would like to hear of other users' experiences before buying one

TIA

Sorry that I can't answer your questions.
But is is a problem when purchasing on Orange of other service providers.
Than purchaseing Sim Free.
Haw do you know if it's the software that you installed dosen't work correctly, or is it because off the software that Orange of other service providers has installed, is stopping it working correctly.
This is way some peoplem are having problems upgradeing the Firmawre too.

for the p900, closing flip hides tracker. Tracker doesn't have a flip closed mode - try running tracker from the "flip closed shortcuts" and it says exactly that.

My solution was, if you must have the flip, is to drill a tiny hole in the flip where it depresses the flip sensor pin. (bottom right corner). then you can use the flipkeypad, but the phone no longer senses flip open or closed behaviour. with tracker, it's perfect.

On opening flip - tracker should pop up, however clearly the Orange app overrides. have you tried disabling the Orange app? I presume it can be done, although I've not got it.

@lightbulb

You're not alone - it's the bloody Orange FW. You can't get Tracker to pop up on flip open as they menu option says it should, because the "Homescreen" overrides any other flip open operation. I am going to be getting my Orange P910i unbranded and unlocked and flashed with generic FW and will report back successfully or otherwise.

As for Active Desk and HD2005, I wouldn't bother - apparently HD2005 is actually worse than HD2004 and I haven't heard of anyone using Active Desk since the P800 days. Plus, it won't solve your Homescreen problem.

Hope that helps...a bit!

I wouldn't bother - as soon as you mention the word firmware, their eyes will glaze over...

I could have got a P910i on Orange for £90, but I paid £280 for an unbranded one just to avoid ALL THE FRIGGIN HASSLE WITH ORANGE FIRMWARE.

Been there, done that with the P800 - Never again.

I got it from a local retailer on Voda £30 per month unbranded for £280

Voda branded ones were £200 but with the crappy firmware. The extra £80 is faer less hassle in the longer term ....
