You people are lucky. I setup the account on my K700 and chose "Send&Receive Mail". The next thing I had to do was to pull out the battery to restart the phone!..

Has Gmail given you two the functionality to do it yet?

You do realise that Gmail need to enable your account for POP3 access, at which point you will see a New Features! tab appear when you are logged in to your inbox?

This is because they're not rolling it out to all users at once.

So, if you haven't got this option, which also puts "POP3" as an option in Settings>Forwarding menu, then you might as well stop wasting your time.

dave.

thanks for the head up but I realise that. I have enabled the option as stated in my first post. Good info though for others wondering why they cannot enable it though

Hmmm.....ok.

That's a bit strange though, because mine is behaving in exactly the same way (just says "Connecting to pop.gmail.com" until I select cancel) and I do not even have the option on my account yet!

I guess it's just not working properly

Ok I read this in Esato a couple of days ago but I can't remember the settings completely( because Google hasn't given me pop3 acces yet) and I also cannot find the thread with the search function.

But you hev to make sure that you checked

smtp authentication

and

secure password authentication??? don't know this one for sure, but hte first one I do.

and just use these adresses

pop.gmail.com
smtp.gmail.com

don't know if this helps anyone but hey at least I've tried!

Cheers

Outgoing:
smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
