I received my SE P910i last Friday (direct upgrade from Tmobile) and I took an instant dislike to the branding they have on it.

I gave it a chance over the weekend and decided that its still an excellent phone and I could live with their software on it. The problem is I am experiencing difficulties with it:

1) That awful Tmobile jingle when I turn the phone on or off.

2) I cannot assign an application to start when I open the flip. I change it in the software but all that comes up is the Tmobile desktop.

3) When I use Tracker 4 some of the icons keep defaulting back to the T Mobile desktop and I have to assign the internet button to quickly get back into the program. Surely all the skins for Tracker 4 should have their own screens and not keep defaulting to the T mobile one.

I guess I can try and find somewhere that will flash the phone for me since I really love the phone and it seems to be T mobile that have messed up the potential of the device.

Is it just me having these problems?

well not if you ask them to "debrand" it! they are only allowed to do it for free though warranty (SE foots the bill). if you cant think of a warranty related issue then you will have to pay in the region of £30. i admit that i havent done it myself - but there are enough people on here that have.

I don't think they will! They'll simply update it with the latest branded firmware

T-Mobile, Voda and Orange are all losing customers over this.

Many more people (like me) are buying smartphones through local retailers and getting a discount with the airtime contract.

It's not as much a discount as getting a branded phone, but the advantage is that there is no branding, no network locks or anything like that.

After the shit kicked up by Voda locking the ringtones on some phones, people are starting a backlash.

I spoke to the voda area rep last week and he wasn't even aware that they branded and locked the P910i.

It's quite simple - pay a little more for unbranded and save all the hassle. I'm just waiting to see how they butcher the Nokia 9300/9500 !!!
