Wht are the types of displays ? I am confused as to TFT , LCD etc...Which are good ? Some displays fade and decrease in contrast with time.....is that specific to any particular type of display ? What type of displays are popular phones like the N6600 , k700i , the Moto e398 etc ? Help appreciated people.

Tft,Tfd,ufb (correct me if im wrong), stn, oled displays etc.Tft is used in majority of mobiles like k700,nokia 6600 etc.Tft offer the best combination of contrast, brightness etc.Tfd(thin film diode) has excellent colour reproduction qualities(used mostly in samsung mobiles & se z600).Stn is cheap, but dont have good colour reproductive and contrast features as Tft etc& has high reaction time.its used in 610.Organic led(oled) has very low power consumption, its a new kind,at nascent stage, used in samsung x120.

There are basically 2 types of display used for cellphones, a LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and a LED (Light Emitting Diode/Device). The old phones with single lines (usually red or green characters are the LEDs. The new black ones with a lit background are the LCDs. New technology in LCDs allow it produce color. LCDs are also categorized into active-matrix and passive matrix. Active-matrix LCDs are faster and the picture quality is very good but are also more expensive. Passive matrix LCDs are slow and the quality is very bad (contrast is very bad) but also cheap. Usually active matrix displays can still look good even if you view it at an angle while passive matrix displays have to be viewed from the front in order to get the best possible quality.

TFT (Thin Film Transistor) is just one among the many types of good quality Active-matrix LCDs.

Lately there has been researches on new types of displays using OLEDs or Organic Light Emitting Devices - where the individual pixels can light up on its own and no backlight is necessary. Samsung has used OLED in the front display of some of their new dual-display phones.

QVGA is not a type of display. It's the resolution of the display.
